The mission of the Maternal Health Alliance of Maine is to support women facing maternal challenges through awareness, collaboration, education and communication.
Maternal Health Alliance of Maine will create a support network for women in Maine. This “village” will provide a place for women to connect, share experiences with Postpartum Depression and become a beacon of support. We will host provider-led support groups for women facing maternal challenges, raise awareness, and bring women and families together through communication and education.
The Maternal Health Alliance of Maine was formed in 2015, inspired by women and mothers needing support. We spent 18 months laying the framework for our "village": building our board of directors and bylaws, training volunteers and raising community awareness. In 2017 we launched our first support group at USM in Portland, and re-launched our website, which is now full of resources to help women in our local community.
